Meetings and Presentations

EAEC held its Monthly Mission Committee meeting on January 4th, featuring a presentation by Fr. Seo Dong-shin Daegeon Andreas on “Mystic Thought of Meister Eckhart from the East Asian point of view.”

The Annual Board Meeting and General Meeting of EAEC took place on January 6th, reviewing 2023 performance and outlining plans for 2024.

An Interim Presentation Committee was held on February 15th at the Mary Education Center. Dr. Kang Kyung-hoon presented research on “Taiwanese Taoism – the Encounter between Taoism and Catholicism,” while Dr. Cha Myung-hee discussed “A Phenomenological Study on the Missionary Experiences of Korean Women Believers in Japan for the Realization of the Kingdom of God.” These presentations are likely for consideration in the upcoming “Asia Catholic Study Vol. 3” journal.

Educational Programs

The Academy of Asian Evangelization commenced on January 18th at the Mary Education Center. Fr. Kim Byeong-soo led the ongoing 1st course, “Words of God by Means of East Asian Wisdom (Synodality: Biblical Humanities for Communion, Mission and Participation).”

Publications

The second edition of the journal, “Asia Catholic Study Vol. 2,” was released in January 2024.

“Jugyoyeongi (主敎緣記),” a translation of Johann Adam Schall von Bell’s work on God’s teachings, was published in February. Dr. Choi Kyung-sik translated the book under the supervision of Fr. Lee Geun-deok.
