The Institute of Formation Fondacio Asia (IFFAsia) brought together 57 representatives from Church institutions, youth movements and faith groups across 10 Asian countries for a dialogue aimed at strengthening youth formation in the region. The event, held from February 9-11 in Tagaytay City, focused on fostering partnerships to shape a better future for young people in Asia.
During the opening of the program, IFFAsia Director Florence Alexius emphasized the importance of community, stating, “Today we come together, not as individuals, but as a community deeply committed to the formation of young people in Asia, walking alongside them as they navigate life, faith, and purpose.”
A key takeaway from the dialogue was the desire of young people for a Church that listens and walks with them, providing safe spaces for them to share their experiences.
Participants stressed the need for the Church to address issues like mental health, economic challenges, and social justice, while ensuring that youth play an active role in shaping the Church’s mission.
The dialogue underscored the importance of collaboration, with participants calling for stronger networks between the Church,
formation institutes, and youth leaders, as well as partnerships with NGOs and interfaith groups.
The event concluded with the presentation of the ‘Document on Synodality and Youth Engagement’, which outlines a shared vision for a synodal Church and offers a roadmap for ongoing collaboration in youth formation.
